Driveline

What is a driveline? Your drive line is made up of multiple components that transfer drive from your engine to the road.

The order of drive is:

  • Engine.
  • Clutch / torque converter.
  • Gearbox / transmission.
  • 4WD transfer case.
  • Tail shaft.
  • Differential.
  • Axles / CV joints.
  • Swivel hubs.
  • Wheel bearings.
  • Wheels.
  • Tyres.

We understand the importance of servicing these components at regular intervals as they have many moving parts. These components are doing as much work as your engine is. If your vehicle is moving, then they are working!

However, they often never get the maintenance and attention required until it is too late. Ask our team at your next service about our drive line service that we provide. You might be surprised at how little maintenance some manufacturer's logbook schedules give to your gearbox or transmission.

Some manufacturers list the first gearbox oil change at 250,000 kilometers! Your vehicle will be well out of its warranty by this time and well worn if not failed. Don’t wait until you are in a situation with only one option, where you have to spend a fortune on repairs.

Call our team and let us work with you to determine the best driveline service schedule that will reflect the driving condition of your vehicle while still working within manufacturers service requirements.

If you feel that something is not right then give our team a call and we will book a time to run your vehicle through our diagnostic process. This will give us all the information required to complete an estimated repair for the problem.

When to Get Help

Not sure whether your vehicle is experiencing driveline problems? Here are a few common issues to look out for:

  • Your engine is emitting strange smells: Your car may be running low on transmission fluid if your engine smells like it’s burning. It’s best to get your transmission serviced if so to prevent wear and tear, as well as corrosion.
  • Your car shudders: Your vehicle may have a loose universal joint if it vibrates when accelerating from a stop or low speeds. If it occurs when changing gears, you may need your clutch replaced.
  • Your car is noisy when in neutral: You should get your vehicle inspected if you hear bumping noises when it’s in neutral. This may mean it needs a fluid change; it could also suggest your bearings or gear teeth need to be replaced.

Engine Repairs &

Replacements

Managing major engine repair jobs can be a challenge if not done correctly from start to finish. The first aspect of the job we make sure we have sorted - is the time!

Allowing adequate time to complete this type of work is a must to get the best result possible. With hundreds of parts being removed and replaced or cleaned and reused, it is no wonder some workshops will not consider doing this work.

We have developed and implemented systems to manage the jobs from estimating to handover to ensure the job runs as smoothly as possible. Some of the major engine repairs that we do range from timing chains to cylinder head replacements, engine replacements, and even those major service tasks that may have been overlooked in the past. This includes valve adjustments and intake manifold cleaning.

We have invested in workshop equipment to make certain that we can deliver the best outcome possible with a Hot Wash Australia parts washer, Eco parts washer, Spit water steam cleaner, and an ultrasonic bath for those hard-to-clean parts.
